Patronage enabled the works of legends like Michelangelo, William Shakespeare, Leonardo Da Vinci, Antoni Gaudí, Pablo Picasso, Billie Holiday, Zara Neal Hurston and thousands more. 

 

Artists are integral to society. They pen escapes from the perils of reality, document history, and fuel revolutions. They sing us through long work days, heart break, and great felicity. Their visionary mosaics color and cover the depth of the human existence to remind us that beauty is all around, even in the depths of profound mal.

 

Today, corporations dictate the success of artists and manipulate the quality of art we consume. With their investments, they filter artists to promote, projects to support, andu dictate what’s “worth” an opportunity. This gatekeeping severely stunts the survival of creativity, and longevity of artistry. 

 

Forget the stipulations of “marketability”.  We can return that power back to the people by directly funding artists that WE genuinely appreciate.
